TW004 – How To Use Twitter Effectively For Network Marketing

The aim of Twitter is to expose other people to your message, website, video's, links to various products and services you offer and to keep them updated about what you are doing throughout the day.

Every piece of content you create should have your twitter id embedded in it. If you write an article, produce a video or set up a new blog you should add your Twitter id to it. Your id should look similar to this – http://Twitter.com/gavin_m. Add it to your content so that anyone who watches your video or reads your article can follow you on Twitter if they like what you have to say.

You can also set up an extra service to your Twitter account called TweetLater. Tweetlater allows you to write a batch of tweets and then add them to this service. You can schedule your tweets to go out automatically to your followers over a period of time similar to an autoresponder service.

Tweetlater also allows you to add an auto-reply to anyone who follows you on Twitter: You can see this in action here:

If you don't already have a Twitter account, go over to http://Twitter.com, sign up for a new account, then go to http://Twitter.com/gavin_m and click on the follow button.

Once you've followed me, you should get an automatic response back into your private messages which says:

"Hey, great to meet you, thanks for adding. I will be at http://www.MLM10WeekChallenge.com Drop by and say hello anytime."

This is my auto welcome message which I set up at TweetLater.com – It allows me to send my website URL to any new users who follow me which increases my exposure.

How Do I Get People To Follow Me On Twitter?

There are several ways to get people to follow you on Twitter.

1. Search for other Network Marketers on Twitter and follow them to find out more about what they are up to and how they build their MLM business. When you follow someone, they will be able to see that you just followed them and they may well check out your profile, decide they like you and follow you back.

You'll need to make sure you are sending out interesting Tweets on your Twitter feed before others follow you, but over time you will increase your following.

2. Add your Twitter id to every piece of content you write and every video you record. Everytime someone watches your video or reads a blog post, they'll see your Twitter id and if they like what they see, they'll follow you.

3. Add a comment to this blog post with your Twitter id and others reading this post will follow you including me.

4. Post your Twitter id in all of your social network profiles such as:

• BetterNetworker
• Myspace
• Facebook
• YouTube
• Other Social Networks
• Linkedin

5. Add your Twitter id to your signature in any forum you write in regulary. Anyone who reads your forum posts and wants to find out more information about you can do it in a non threatening way.

What Makes Twitter So Good?

I'm sure you've opted in for information before and had to give your first name and email address in return for a free ebook or ecourse? You are then bombarded with sales letters, product offers and autoresponders for the next few months. Your email inbox starts to over flow and if the information isn't very good, you decide to unsubscribe.

With Twitter, people can follow you and learn more about you without having to give their name and email address first.

Anyone with a Twitter account can follow as many people as they'd like and enter another persons world without them having to give their personal information away.

Twitter (Micro Blogging) and social networking is the future of the Internet. Email lists will continue to work but micro blogging and social networking will grow and grow.

The more you can expose yourself and your services across social networks, Twitter, Youtube, Myspace etc, the more chance you have of people noticing you.

Make Direct Contact With Other Twits

You can make direct contact with other people who Twitter (I'm not sure Twit is the correct word but it seemed like a funny word to use

When you write your Tweet in the what are you doing box at the top of the page, if you add the @ sign before someone's user id, they will get the tweet directly in their @replies box. So, if you wanted everyone else to see your message and also wanted to aim your message directly at me, you could write something like this:

"@gavin_m – Thanks for feedback about my latest video of me earning $87,201,36 selling ebooks – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AqUbTDbHv9k"

Everyone who's following me will see this update, as will my Facebook group, Myspace, Blog readers etc and @gavin_m will also get the message in his @replies box specifically to him.

You can also send a 140 character direct message to another user and they will receive that message in their direct messages box. This is similar to sending a text message to someone.

I've built some great relationships with people by using some of the above strategies.

My Strategy

1. Follow other Network Marketers
2. Make sure you like what they have to say
3. Use the @username to send them a comment on one of their Tweets
4. Enter into a conversation with them either publicly by sending a direct message to someone
5. Aim to build up a relationship with that person
6. Exchange email addresses
7. Make telephone contact
8. Sign up into your business, or continue a working relationship with each other by helping each other out, and learning from each other.

Remeber that you don't have to sign everyone up into your business. I never try to sign people into my business unless they ask. There are so many people out there that I don't need to. When you set up your attraction marketing profile, your social networking, twitter, videos etc and work it consistently, you will find tons of people coming into your network.

Be aware that this isn't going to happen overnight, it may take 6-12 months but once it's all set up and pumping, you will have your own FREE lead generation machine sending you 10-50 leads each day!
