TW002 – What is Twitter?
Twitter is a free social networking and micro-blogging service that allows its users to send and read other users' updates (otherwise known as tweets), which are text-based posts of up to 140 characters in length.
Updates are displayed on the user's profile page and delivered to other users who have signed up to receive them. The sender can restrict delivery to those in his or her circle of friends (delivery to everyone being the default). Users can receive updates via the Twitter website, instant messaging, SMS, RSS, email or through an application such as Twitterrific or Facebook.

Twitter has grown considerably over the last 2 years especially in the Home based business and Internet Marketing industries.
Many savvy Network Marketers have been using Twitter for a few years also but only recently has it been bought into the mainstream by other big network marketers such as Mike Dillard.
How Do I Use Twitter?
My Twitter profile is http://twitter.com/gavin_m – I 'follow' people I find interesting and would like to keep upto date with whats going on in their lives and business, and other people 'follow' me to keep track of what I'm doing.
I can update my 'Twitter Status' either by going to Twitter.com, logging into my account and changing the box which says 'What are you doing?', by using my mobile phone, using another external service or by visiting my blog and updating my status through my blog.
Each time I update my status, all my 'followers' get a notification on their Twitter page. They can reply directly to me, read the update, visit a link which I include in my update or just ignore my message altogether.
I have also set up my Twitter to synchronize with my other social network profiles such as Facebook, Myspace, Squidoo and my Blog. So, everytime I update my Twitter feed or my Blog with a new blog post, everyone who's connected to me through the above social networks can see exactly what I'm doing.
So by using one medium 'Twitter' I can connect all my friends from all my social networks together. Each 'Tweet' I write on Twitter will have the ability to be seen by between 2000-10000 people.
Twitter and social networking is about building relationships and visibility with others and the more times I can expose my message to other network marketers and MLM'ers, the more chance I have of them noticing me.
Twitter is similar to an instant messenger type service such as MSN although rather than only one person seeing your message, thousands of people see it.
Network Marketing Twitter Strategy
I use Twitter as a service to connect all my other attraction marketing profiles together. I build my friends network on Myspace, Facebook, my Blog and other social networks and then expose those 'friends' to my Twitter feed. I only need to update my message in one place ie. Twitter and that message is then synchronized across all my other sites.
Everytime I make a post on Betternetworker.com or record a video for youtube.com I usually add my twitter address. If the person watching the video or reading the article or post likes my content, they can 'follow' me on Twitter and will be entered into my network.
My Twitter address looks like this http://Twitter.com/gavin_m.
I also use a service called TweetLater to send out an automatic email to anyone who follows me on Twitter.
When someone follows me on Twitter, they get the following message automatically:
Hey, great to meet you, thanks for adding. I will be at http://MLM10weekchallenge.com. Drop by and say hello anytime.
Which means that I gain an extra Twitter follower and can expose my blog instantly to the person who just started following me.
What Should I Write on Twitter?
You are allowed to write 140 characters per Twitter message, so you have to keep it short and sweet.
Here are a few things which I write and other people have written in their Twitter updates
Spending an hour replying to all my prospects and emails… Got a full day of work today and it's Saturday

hello twitters! M back after almost 5 days now. and i missed it so such, i have to accept the fact that i am quite addictive to twitter now.
(Note – When you add a URL or website address to twitter, it will be shortened automatically to a tiny url to make it all fit in to your 140 characters)
Although the above Tweets may not look like much to you, when you follow someone and keep track of what they are talking about on a regular basis, then the above tweets and similar will start to make sense. Rather than reading a huge blog post, you can look at the 140 character tweets and get an idea of whats going on.
If you're not already registered on Twitter, I strongly recommend signing up for an account and then come back to this post to post your Twitter feed in the comments section below so others who read this can follow you.
Happy Tweeting
