How to Create a Compelling Facebook Profile
You have to be yourself and use your real name. Facebook doesn’t allow ficticious people and if they find out you’ve used a ficticious name, you will have your account closed.
Below, you'll find the very first video. Showing you how to actually register for a new Facebook account. (If you've already got a Facebook account, you can skip this video and move on to the second video.
Here is the second video showing you how to create a compelling and persuasive Facebook profile. (There are three parts to this video & you'll find each video in the playlist just under the actual video itself.)
When you first set up your profile, make it about you as a person. Don’t try to sell your business. Remember we are using Facebook to build personal relationships and not to promote our business. If you build up relationships with people first, the right way, then you will never need to promote your business because people will come flocking to you.
1. Make sure you fill out your profile accurately. Be genuine, fill out your favorite movies, music, hobbies etc so people get to know the real you. When you write out your hobbies, music, movies etc, make sure you seperate them with commas rather than having a long list of hobbies. If people are faced with a huge long list of info about you, they may not get to read the about me section as they may just see a huge list of hobbies, one per line and may switch off.
Ideally people want to read the about me section as soon as possible and direct them to your website.
The about me section is the most important part, so people can get to know the real you. Write about your experiences, what you’ve done in your life, what you want to do in your life, the goals, dreams, aspirations etc and how you are looking to meet other networkers and marketers.
You only get a certain amount of characters in this section, so use them wisely. You should have enough space to write about yourself.
2. Add your websites links to your profile, talk about you as a person, don’t push your company or network marketing opportunity much. You want people to become friends with you first. They are not interested in another MLM company. They are either already involved with a company of their own or are not looking to join one.
Ideally, your links in your profile will be to a blog, a social marketing page such as myspace or your betternetworker.com profile or youtube channel. You want to build up a relationship with someone before you show them your opportunity.
Your opportunity should be the last thing on your mind. Build the relationship first.
3. If you are on Skype, you can add your Skype user ID and add your email addresses so people can contact you if they want to.
4. Upload several photo’s and videos of yourself if possible and make sure you tag yourself in the photo/ video. When you tag yourself, it will appear in your profile as "view photos of Gavin Mountford" or "view videos of " etc…..
Remember, Attraction Marketing. You want people coming to you because you can offer a lot of value to them. You don’t want to be forcing people to visit your new company website. Remember that people are interested in you and not your company’s products and services.
Add a likeable photo – Don’t make friends with anyone until you have your face in the photo. If you try to make friends with people when you have the ? Question mark as your photo, most people will reject you. They will either think you are a stalker, weird or that they don’t know you because they can’t recognize you from the photo.
Having a likeable, smiling photo is half the battle. If people feel they can relate to you, the will be more willing to approach you.
Your Facebook profile is the human element of your business. Relationship marketing is very important these days. There are so many companies, products, shops, services etc and not many of them stand out.
If you want to make you or your business stand out these days, you have to show that you are a real person, with wants. needs, desires, goals, experiences etc and that you are just like the person who is viewing your profile.
I remember not long ago our dishwasher broke down. I was looking online for a company who could repair it for us and found several boring company websites. I then came across a personal one man band type website which had a photo, video, testimonials, about him etc – It was much more personal and I related to him immediately. Rather than call an unknown company and have any random person come out to fix it, I called the guy who’s website had been more personal.
Showcase the human element of your business. Be yourself. The more you can do this, the stronger the effect it will have on everyone who views it.
You don’t have to spend a long time on your profile, just make it personal and honest. Upload photo’s, add your websites, email addresses and Skype ID.
