There are so many groups on Facebook, most of them don’t offer any value to the community. If you are going to create a group…. Create a very specific group. You could create a group to help train members of your downline, members of your company, a video marketing training group, myspace marketing, time management for network marketers group etc etc…. Be as specific as you can.
When you are the adminsistrator of a fairly large Facebook group, you'll be able to command the respect and authority of the members of that group. This is VERY IMPORTANT when establishing your personal brand.
It's actually easier than you might think to create a group on Facebook. I will run through the various steps you need to take to get your group up and running.
Come up with an original idea for your group. Because there are so many groups, your group needs to be different if possible. You could create a group for your company, for your team, or for a specific area of network marketing.
My advice is to look around the various groups on Facebook initially to get a feel for what you can do, and to get some ideas.
If you have knowledge in certain areas or feel you would like to get good at a certain area, then set up a group on that topic.
Here are a few ideas for topics for groups:
A group for your company, a group based on an ebook, or a course you may have read such as Magnetic Sponsoring, Building on a Budget, MLM Lead System Pro, Spiders Web System etc.
Or a specific topic in network marketing, such as attraction marketing, youtube marketing, Facebook marketing, Myspace, Video, Article marketing, Twitter etc… the list goes on.
Get good at something, focus on it, learn it inside out, teach it and you'll become a leader in your chosen field.
How To Create Your Own Group
1. Login to Facebook or create an account if you don't have one yet.
2. Click the Home tab at the top.
3. On the left hand side of your home page, navigate to Groups and click.
4. At the top of the page, you'll see Create a Group.
5. Give your group a name. Use the words MLM or Network Marketing at the start of your group because when people search in Facebook for these words, you want your group to show up at the top of the search listings. So you could have Network Marketing Video Marketing Group for example.
6. Choose a network.
Because you want as many people to join your group as possible, my advice is to click the Global option for this part.
7. Enter the description of your group here. This is the first part of your group that people see, so make sure you add some very descriptive text here. It's very important that people know what they are going to get if they join your group. Tell them what it's about, right from the start.
8. Choose a category and sub-category. When creating my groups, I usually select Business for the category and Home Business for the sub-category.
9. Fill out the contact information… street address, country and website. I don't usually put my street address as it's not important, but make sure you put your email address so people can contact you.
10. Fill out recent news – In this section you can keep the members of your group up to date with whats happening in your company, your specific topic, on your website or blog, or if anyone has posted any discussions in your group forum.
Again, this part is important because people can see whats been going on in your group if you keep this updated.
11. Ok, your almost done… Click on Create group.
12. Make sure you upload an image to the group. Remeber copyright rules when you do this. You could use an image of yourself to further brand yourself.
13. Click Upload picture to upload your image.
14. Add a link to your website in the Website: box, and remember to add http:// at the start, so my website would be http://www.gavinmountford.com
15. Keep the Options the same as the default options for the time being, we can always go back and edit them later.
16. Click Save and then publish your group to your wall so your friends can see the group you just created.
17. Invite your friends by selecting them from your current friend list or typing their name into the box that is provided.
18. Play around with the settings in your group, keep your group updated regulary with new content.
Maintain your group as much as you can, post on the discussion board, invite new members daily, make friends with new people and invite them to your group, ask other people to refer people to your group…
Add videos to the group, add valuable links and make the group a place where people can come to learn something valuable.
You need to stand out from all the other network marketing related groups out there. Yes, it will take time… but it's definitely worth it.
