A Very Sad Story
Make sure you read this post in it's entirety as it contains some very important information. This is from my personal experience and as you know, I love to share my experiences with my readers as it helps you out and ensures you don't have the same mistakes!
Around 3 years ago, I joined a network marketing company in it's pre-launch phase. You get the usual hype, people getting very excited and talking about it as being the next BIG THING in the industry.
I put everything in to building up this business, getting the message out, online and offline advertising, banner ads, PPC etc and spent a lot of money.
Within the first couple of weeks, I'd personally enrolled 270 + people and within a few months, my group was over 2000 strong! This consisted of people I had on my lists, people I knew from past companies and people coming in through my advertisements. I was VERY proud of myself
and I was getting recognition from the company and my upline.
I attended the pre-launch conference with many of my team and my excitement continued to grow.
Launch was only a few weeks away and if only a small percentage of people in my team upgraded, I'd be making a LOT of money! This was it, I was going to be RICH
I'd put an INSANE amount of EFFORT in to building my downline and spent a lot of money, all I needed now was for the COMPANY TO DELIVER on their promises.
Ha Ha Ha, what a joke! Did they deliver? NO… so you HAVE TO LEARN from this blog post.
PRE LAUNCH is NOT the time to get in with an MLM company. You need to wait several years, join an established company, or risk losing all the hard work you've put in.
Companies in pre launch are not stable. The compensation plan may change, the management may have issues, the policies and procedures may change and the company will generally OVER PROMISE AND UNDER DELIVER.
Well, this is exactly what happened with this specific company. The compensation plan changed, the launch date was delayed, the software didn't work as well as it was expected to, there were major problems with the whole infrastructure and VERY FEW people upgraded as a result.
A whole lot of people had their DREAMS SMASHED, including me. This is the industry we're in guys and you'd better get used to it. Lots of false promises, lies and little results. (It doesn't have to be this way)
You CAN control what YOU do, but you can't control what other people do and what the company does.
Just make sure you're with a company that is stable and DON'T fall for the HYPE of a pre-launch. I know it's tempting, I've been there before.
Fortunately for me, I learned from my mistake, got back up and moved on. I changed my approach, joined a stable company, built my attraction marketing system, worked very hard and here I am telling you this story

Very true. I'm sure many people have suffered at the hands of start-up companies (MLM and other) that promise the world but fall flat when it is time to deliver. Obviously MLM requires that every individual do his/her best and recruit like-minded people to duplicate their success. If you work hard there is no limit to the success you can potentially have. If you do nothing, you earn nothing. Simple concept, simple business. No magic and definitely not a "get rich quick" scam.
Do your research and know exactly what you are getting invloved in before you make any rash decisions. Network marketing isn't for everyone but if you think you're up for it the following general rules should help steer you in the right direction:
Starting a home based business that doesn't require product development and inventory is ideal. Work with a reputable company with a strong track record for success and large client base. Also, having all of your shipping, billing, accounting, technical support, and customer service taken care of will give you full freedom to focus on marketing alone. Products/Services based on needs rather than wants that will not require people to change their buying habits will offer the greatest potential for success and residual income. Work smart and stick to what works.
Use the Internet as an invaluable resource for generating endless targeted leads so you don't have to rely on family and friends who often end up being your harshest critics. Brand YOU Inc. and establish yourself as a knowledgeable leader and people will seek you out, rather than you having to chase them. Be passionate about what you are marketing and/or the team you are building, or don't even bother. Most of all be honest, realistic, and enjoy yourself so it won't even feel like work. All the best to those who have an open mind and burning desire to change the course of their life.
This is so true it hurts and its sad for people that just don't get it.
But on the upside – that little adventure was how you and I met.
