WK1002 – What Have I Learned In My Life?
Term 1
Week 1 – Day 2 – What Lessons Have I Learned In My Life?
In today's blog post and video, we are going to get deeper into the core of you and who you are as a person. I want you to take a few minutes and think about the lessons you have learned in your life. Has your life always been easy, or has it been a struggle?
Were you bought up in a family that had no money worries and you could have anything you wanted, or did your family struggle with money? What did you learn from that?
There are many lessons life has taught you and all you need to do is sit down and think of a few, write them down for your blog post and record a video with you talking about them. Again, it may feel weird, but honestly, people want to know you as a person. They want to feel that they are like you and want to know who they will be working with. This is part of the Liking Principle and is used to influence and persuade people.
My family always struggled for money and one of the lessons I learned from that was that I couldn't always have what I wanted and if I wanted something I had to earn it for myself either by doing the housework, being well behaved or helping someone do something.
I realised early on that as soon as I was old enough, I was going to have to get a job to help support my family.
When you don't have much money in your life, one thing you realise is that when you do eventually get what you want and work very, very hard to achieve it then you appreciate it so much more.
I attended music school and moved down to London from my home town about 11 years ago but for 15 months before I moved, I had to work very, very hard to save the money to go. It was a struggle and was very difficult, but I knew what I wanted, I set my mind on it and got there in the end. Once I was at music school, I worked harder than most people and did lots of practice. I did much better than people who came from a rich background. I appreciated the opportunity much more because I worked so hard for it than if it was given to me on a plate.
I also realised early on in my life that in order to progress through life, I needed to help other people achieve their goals and dreams. Working on your own and for your own greed may get you further in life financially but not emotionally.
I love working as part of a team, I love helping people and pooling our resources together to achieve a common goal. That's what Network Marketing is all about.
Several years later when I found the Internet, I learned that by working smarter and leveraging the tools of the Internet, I could get so much more done than if I wasn't using the tools. So, rather than working very hard, I started to work smarter. Joining a Network Marketing company is all about working smarter because you're leveraging your efforts.
Maybe you've learned about how you work as a person…. how whilst being on the Internet, it's so easy to become distracted by something else or another opportunity and that you have to be strict with yourself and stick to your main focus.
I learned this a long time ago. People bombarding me with emails recommending products and other opportunities. I used to fall for it all the time. I'm not saying it was a bad thing for me to do, because it was a learning experience and I grew much more as a person. I can now take a step back and look at why I gave in to their persuasion and bought the products. I witnessed it first hand and now I own that experience.
People who send you emails recommending products and services usually know their audience very well and they are able to get inside your mind and push the right buttons to make you buy.
Eventually, after you've completed this course and have worked with me for a while, I hope to give you the same skills and powers so that you're able to help other people and expose them to you and your opportunity.
Action steps for this lesson
- Sit and think for 5 minutes about some of the lessons you've learned in your life.
- Write some bullet points down to jog your memory when you've finished.
- Write a blog post talking about a few of these lessons. As long or as short as you'd like, but the longer the better.
- Record a video explaining these lessons.
- Post the blog post on your blog.
- Upload the video to TubeMogul which will then upload it to the other video sharing sites.
- Sit back and relax… well done, you just produced about 10 pieces of content and helped your audience get to know you a little better because you worked smarter rather than harder
