Term 1
Week 1 – Day 1 – Who am I?

Welcome to the first proper day of the 10 Week MLM Challenge. Today, you will begin by writing your story. This is the story you should know the best, after all, you live with yourself 24 hours per day.

Getting to know yourself is very important in your personal development and in your life and the more work you do one yourself, the more value you will be able to offer others. If you can solve people's problems and offer value to others, then you will be more successful than your wildest dreams!

So today, I'd like you to write the first part of your story.

Part 1

Your story can be as long as you'd like and contain as much as you'd like. People want to know you as a person and not just a blank website with no photo's, no videos and no personal interaction.

At the end of your story, your goal is to make the viewer think that they know you and ideally the viewer will be able to relate to your story.

Here's my written story and below is my video part of my story. It should give you a few ideas about what to write.

Part 2

Now you've written your story down on paper, you now need to switch on your camcorder or webcam and record yourself talking into the camera. Don't be afraid…. if you don't like it, then just re-record it. Take as long as you need to. Tell people who you are, who is the real you? What are your fears? What have you failed in? What have you succeeded in? Show people the real you, relax as much as possible and if you're able to inject some humour in to the video, then go for it.

It will take a little while to be able to relax in front of the camera so just keep going. Remember, this doesn't have to be perfect. People will be able to relate to you much more if they can see that you're human.

Remember, the goal of this week is to let people into your world.

Below is some more good reading, if you've got time to read through it. If you don't have time or can't add it into your video, then don't worry. The reason I'm introducing it now is to plant it in your mind so that you will realise when people are using it on you and you are being influenced.

Weapons of Influence

I'd like to introduce to you a few core concepts that you'll be learning as we progress through the training. These principles and used by top persuaders and influencers all over the world. The first we will be looking at today is The Contrast Principle.

Think about the contast principle when you're writing your story. The way people get you to take action when telling their story is to paint a dark, negative, sad story of when their life was very bad. Nothing would go as planned, they failied in everything they did, spend all their money, had to sleep on the floor of the office because they couldn't afford their rent, couldn't afford to buy food, weren't able to go on holidays and basically had a rough time.

The story then goes on to pain the contrast and the opposite when they found success.

All of a sudden, my life changed… I started earning money for myself, I fired my boss and started working from home. I had enough money to take my family on holidays, do more hobbies, go places, spend time with family and friends and help as many people as I could.

All this happened because…. (Then explain why everything changed in your life) Maybe you found a mentor who took you by the hand, showed you how to succeed online, gave you step by step instructions and helped you live the life you always wanted to live.

Here's a great story from Influence by Robert Cialdini… Hopefully you've already purchased the book?

Dear Mother and Dad:

Since I left for college I have been remiss in writing and I am sorry for my thoughtlessness in not having written before. I will bring you up to date now, but before you read on, please sit down. You are not to read any further unless you are sitting down, okay?

Well, then, I am getting along pretty well now. The skull fracture and the concussion I got when I jumped out the window of my dormitory when it caught on fire shortly after my arrival here is pretty well healed now. I only spent two weeks in the hospital and now I can see almost normally and only get those sick headaches once a day.

Fortunately, the first in the dormitory, and my jump, was witnessed by an attendant at the gas station near the dorm, and he was the one who called the Fire Department and the ambulance. He also visited me in the hospital and since I had nowhere to live because of the burntout dormitory, he was kind enough to invite me to share his apartment with him. It's really a basement room, bit it's kind of cute. He is a very fine boy and we have fallen deeply in love and are planning to get married.

We haven't got the exact date yet, but it will be before my pregnancy begins to show.

Yes, Mother and Dad, I am pregnant. I know how much you are looking forward to being grandparents and I know you will welcome the baby and give it the same love and devotion and tender care you gave me when I was a child. The reason for the delay in our marriage is that my boyfriend has a minor infection which prevents us from passing our pre-marital blood tests and I carelessly caught it from him.

Now that I have brought you up to date, I want to tell you that there was no dormitory fire, I did not have a concussion or Skull fracture, I was not in the hospital, I am not pregnant, I am not engaged, I am not infected, and there is no boyfriend. However, I am getting a "D" I American History, and an "F" in Chemistry and I want you to see those marks in their proper perspective.

Your loving daughter,
Sharon

Sharon may be failing chemistry, but she gets an "A" in psychology.
